The last thing you ever want to remotely consider when planning a stunning wedding literally steps from the water is the dreaded R word. Here on Long Island, we forbid brides from saying it. From thinking it. From even considering it. But behind the scenes, there’s always a chance for rain in New York, especially in October. And as much as we hope and pray for perfect weather for our amazing couples, we always have a thoughtful back-up plan when it gets a bit uncooperative.
Luckily, Laura + Alex were beyond champs when they realized that indeed, the forecast was correct and the storm was not going to waver. It wasn’t just a light drizzle. It was a bitterly cold, super high-wind nasty rain… the type that you feel all the way down to your bones. Some brides would go into panic mode in this scenario. But Laura + Alex remained completely composed and calm because they had the most important detail at the very front of their minds: each other.
Their day wasn’t about an outdoor ceremony on the water. It wasn’t about enjoying a cocktail hour on a sprawling wooden dock. It wasn’t even about taking advantage of the ridiculously beautiful landscape surrounding Land’s End in Sayville for their photos. It was, pure and simple, about their immense love for each other, and the commitment they were ready to make to each other in front of all their family and friends. And no weather could possibly stop that.
Thankfully, the rain did indeed stop for a small window of time, allowing us to capture some stunning outdoor images of the happy couple. We were beyond impressed with Laura, who didn’t even flinch at the bitter cold wind. You are a rockstar, Laura!
And you know what? Laura + Alex’s wedding was thoroughly and utterly fantastic. Rain and all. The ceremony was so special, full of little details that they meticulously planned. The reception was incredible, and the dance floor was constantly packed. And through it all, Laura + Alex’s love for each other was utterly radiant.
Congratulations Laura + Alex! Enjoy your Land’s End Wedding Photography preview!
Laura handmade all her wedding invitations. Repeat. She made them. Each one, individually, pressed by hand.
Uhm, amazing and utterly impressive.
How beautiful is Laura’s bouquet?! Flowers by Burton does incredible work!
The back staircase at Land’s End proved to be a perfect spot for their indoor reveal. We love reveals. It’s such a private, intimate moment for the couple. Capturing Alex’s emotion as he saw Laura for the first time was one of the highlights of the day for us.
Again with the DIY touch, Laura handmade all of these “seating cards”. Laura, have you considered side gig in wedding planning? You are legit with all these details!
Thank you to all the amazing vendors that made Laura + Alex’s wedding absolutely magical!
